Initial cultural heritage and archaeological investigations of the Angels Beach development area were conducted by Su Davies. As a result of an amendment to the legislation, Everick was engaged to conduct further works including:

  • Conducted further community consultation to satisfy the requirements of the Office of Environment and Heritage the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation Requirements for Proponents (2010);
  • Completed a supplementary Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment pursuant to satisfying the Code of Practice for the Investigation of Aboriginal Objects in NSW (2010);
  • preparation of an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit; and
  • completion of archaeological testing and subsequent salvage of a subsurface midden.

The additional excavations found that the midden had Moderate to High Archaeological Significance and recommendations were made for the area to be incorporated into the environmental protection area located to the north and west of the site.
