Heritage assessment, specialising in both Indigenous and Historical heritage, ranging from survey and excavation to analysis and report production. Cultural Heritage Management Plans and collection management systems.


Dr Richard Robins is an archaeologist and museum curator with over 25 years of experience in Queensland cultural heritage. He has degrees from the University of New England, University of Queensland and Griffith University. He is an adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Human and Environmental Studies, University of New England, Armidale. He was Senior Curator of Australian Archaeology at the Queensland Museum for 11 years, and was a curator at that institution for 16 years.

Richard has also worked as a field archaeologist, museum technician and museum cataloguer. His main research interest is in Aboriginal archaeology and he has undertaken extensive archaeological work throughout Queensland, particularly in southeast Queensland, southwest Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Richard is proficient in using GIS mapping systems and provides clients with detailed and accurate mapping on which to plan their projects. Richard has also published in national and international journals on the results of site recording, excavation, taphonomy, museum studies, and heritage issues. He has contributed chapters to books and has edited a book on museum practice in small museums. He has also taught courses to Aboriginal Rangers, museum workers and undergraduate and postgraduate tertiary students.

 



Tim Robins

Project Manager, client liaison officer, handling quotes, tenders and compliance with cultural heritage legal requirements. Archaeologist, handling surveys and excavations.


Tim Robins brings to Everick a legal background and a professional, hands on approach to project management.

 

Tim holds a degree in archaeology and has been admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland. Today’s cultural heritage requirements include a range of complicated statutory andadministrative obligations. These obligations often need to be balanced with broader planning consideration. Tim understands the planning process and the timeframe necessary to complete a job. His knowledge ensures Everick can work with your planners to gain Departmental approval for whatever course of action that is required.

 

Since drafting his first Cultural Heritage Management Plan in 2003, Tim has worked on heritage projects throughout Australia, including managing over 15 Part 3A Major Projects in New South Wales. Tim has been engaged by clients such as Queensland Rail and Peabody Energy Australia to conduct reviews of their heritage management practices, and he has written advice on heritage legislation for Government agencies in Queensland and New South Wales.

 



Helene Tomkins

Helene Tomkins undertakes both historic and Indigenous archaeology work. Helene has led surveys and excavations for large residential and infrastructure projects. She is a highly proficient researcher, and has been responsible for the identification and management of significant sites around Australia.

Helene graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Business in 1998 and has a professional background in Office Administration. Helene’s interest in culture history and diversity led to her undertaking archaeological studies and she graduated from the University of Queensland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Archaeology. Her postgraduate honours thesis investigated environmental aspects associated with the subsistence practices of people in Oceania. Helene was awarded the University of Queensland Blue Mountain Prize for the top archaeology honours graduate in her graduating year.

Helene worked for three years as a research assistant at the University of Queensland, analysing archaeo-fauna from many sites in Polynesia including Hawaii and the Loyalty Islands. Helene is currently involved with a team of specialists working in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The ARC funded research project focuses on cultural and environmental change in the Wellesley Islands.

 



Jane Lavers

Jane Lavers

Archaeologist and Office Administrator, handling searches, report reviews, surveys and Traditional Owner consultation.


Jane Lavers holds a degree in Archaeology from The University of Queensland and has fieldwork experience in south east Queensland and Hawaii. She is nearing completion of her honours thesis focusing on cultural landscapes in southeast Queensland. Jane's interest in understanding Indigenous connections to country allows her to contribute to our interpretation of many project areas.

Jane was awarded the University of Queensland Blue Mountains Prize for the top archaeological graduate in her graduating year. Jane has also worked in the Archaeology Labs and the Anthropology Museum in the School of Social Sciences at The University of Queensland, in both administrative and research roles.

 



Dr Thom Blake

Historical surveys and Heritage assessments including comprehensive reports and recommendations.


Thom Blake is a professional historian and heritage consultant with extensive experience in historical research and heritage studies. He has extensive experience in undertaking cultural heritage projects in Queensland including conservation management plans, regional and local surveys for local authorities, state wide surveys, and heritage impact statements.

Thom served as President of the Professional Historians Association (2000-2002) and was a member of the Queensland Heritage Council (1999-2001). He is currently a member of the Executive of the Australian Council of Professional Historians Associations. Thom has been a member of the Heritage Register Advisory Committee since 1992 - an expert panel which advices the Queensland Heritage Council on nominations to the Heritage Register. His publication A Dumping Ground: A History of the Cherbourg Settlement was the winner of the NSW Premiers History Award: State Records Prize in 2002.



Jeanne Harris

Expert in devising collection management systems for archaeological collections from historical archaeological excavations. Extensive expertise in data base management.


Ms E. Jeanne Harris is a historical archaeologist with 25 years experience in cultural resources management in government, academic, non-profit, and private sectors in both the US and Australia. Her governmental experience includes the National Park Service at the Denver Service Centre and at Harpers Ferry NHP. Academic affiliations were with the University of Cincinnati and the University of Colorado. As an archaeological laboratory supervisor, she has approximately 16 years of experience with various cultural resources consultants, the National Park Service, and Miami Purchase Association (a non-profit organization).

Jeanne has expertise in both historic and prehistoric artefact analysis and has 12 years experience as a database manager, in a number of database systems. She was also responsible for the design and implementation of a computerized cataloguing system for use in private sector/ contract archaeology. Jeanne is proactive in the standardization of archaeological collections management guidelines. Additionally, Jeanne is Editor of the ACRA Edition (newsletter of the American Cultural Resources Association), and RPA Notes (newsletter for the Register for Professional Archaeologist).

Organisational and project governance and risk management. Policy and development advice relating to specialized projects in the fields of natural history, science and environment.


Dr Dahms has a strong research and review background developed over a wide range of disciplines ranging from public sector management to scientific research. He began his career as the Curator of Insects at the Queensland Museum and his scientific papers attracted an international research award for excellence in 1985.He has over 30 years experience in museum and collection management. His research and review skills have been transferred to a number of public sector positions involving several disciplines including Project Officer with the Public Sector Management Commission for the review of the then Department of Environment and Heritage; Research Director, Queensland Public Accounts Committee and Principal Policy and Research Officer, Manager, Human Resources, Principal Auditor for Performance Audits at the Queensland Audit Office. He is now Principal Consultant, Plum Concepts & Solutions.

Ted has undertaken corporate governance and risk management reviews for over 30 organisations across the public and private sectors and he has delivered numerous professional presentations and workshops to private and public sector audiences on corporate governance and risk management. He is the principal author for Standards Australia’s Guide to Controls Assurance and Risk Management (HB254-2003) issued as part of Standard Australia’s new governance standards package. He is author of eight reports to the Queensland Public Accounts Committee, which led to effective changes in Queensland Public sector legislation and in the financial management practices of two departments. He is also author of better practice governance and risk management guidelines in the Auditor-General’s Report No. 7, 1998-99 entitled Corporate Governance – Beyond Compliance. This review consolidated the findings from the initial review of 13 Queensland Government departments.

Ted’s professional qualifications relate to his scientific background. He has Bachelor degrees in Agricultural Science (major Entomology) and Science (major Zoology) University of Queensland, a Masters Degree in Science (Entomology) University of Queensland and a Doctor of Science (Entomology), a higher degree awarded in 1998 by the University of Queensland.
