Dr Richard Robins
Principal Archaeologist (Queensland)
Dr Richard Robins is an archaeologist and museum curator with over 35 years of experience in Australian cultural heritage. He has degrees from the University of Queensland and Griffith University. He was Senior Curator of Australian Archaeology at the Queensland Museum for 17 years. He has also been an adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Human and Environmental Studies at the University of New England and adjunct Professor at Bond University.
Richard has also works as a field archaeologist, museum technician and museum cataloguer. His main research interest is in Aboriginal archaeology and he has undertaken extensive archaeological work throughout Queensland, particularly in South East and South West Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Richard has also published in national and international journals on the results of site recording, excavation, taphonomy, museum studies and heritage issues. He has contributed chapters to books and has edited a book on museum practice in small museums. He has also taught courses to Aboriginal Rangers, museum workers and tertiary students.
