Randwick High School
Type: Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Archaeology Reporting and Test Excavation.
Client: Schools Infrastructure (SINSW).
The Project
Everick Heritage was engaged to undertake reporting requirements for proposed upgrades at the school. Randwick High School is located within the Botany sand dunes and adjacent to the former Birds Gully watercourse. It was identified as being a highly sensitive area for Aboriginal objects. Previous investigations in the area have resulted in the discovery of significant Aboriginal archaeology, including an 8,000-year-old Aboriginal hearth, currently on display in the forecourt of the Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building.
